An uncut red topaz is a semi-precious gem used in Crafting. It can be cut with a chisel at level 16 Crafting to make a red topaz, granting 25 experience. There is a chance to unsuccessfully cut the red topaz, resulting in a crushed gem and 6.3 experience.
Uncut red topaz is found mostly with the Mining skill, only by mining gem rocks which are located in Shilo Village and the Lunar Isle mine. They can also be obtained by completing hard Gnome Restaurant deliveries or by stealing from Dorgesh-Kaan Rich Chests. In addition, there is a very rare chance to find one while searching certain scenery objects across Gielinor.
Three uncut red topaz can be given to Safta Doc alongside a gout tuber and 1,200 trading sticks in exchange for a red topaz machete.

Something nice
Various decorative scenery objects can be searched for a 1/1000 chance to receive an uncut red topaz. Upon finding the topaz, the chatbox will show a message "You find something nice." followed by the player stating "Wow, this is really nice." No other items can be obtained from searching. Objects that can be searched for something nice include:
- Boxes found across Falador and Hosidius.
- Crates found in Falador.
- Drawers found in Emir's Arena hospital and Shayzien.
- Crates found in the Elemental Workshop and Observatory Dungeon.
- Crates found in the Fremennik Province.
- Chests found in Rellekka and Etceteria.
- Cupboard found in Nardah.
- Crates found in Zanaris and Varrock.
- Crates found in the Fairy Resistance Hideout.
- Roots found in the Grand Tree Tunnels.
- Crates and boxes found in the Goblin Cave near the Fishing Guild.
- Crate inside H.A.M. Hideout entrance.
- Bookshelves within the Hunter Guild.
