Verac the Defiled's equipment
Verac the Defiled's equipment is obtainable from the Barrows minigame. Completing the Barrows minigame does not guarantee players will get a Barrows item. The set requires 70 Defence to wear the armour and 70 Attack to wield the weapon. Verac's set is the only set of Barrows equipment to give a Prayer bonus with each piece. Verac's set is still useful for players who wish to combine Melee and Prayer. The Brassard does, however, give lower defensive bonuses than other Barrows platebodies; its bonuses are roughly on par with a Rune platebody.
Along with Dharok's set and Guthan's set, Verac's is one of the more popular Barrows Equipment. Apart from the usual Defence and Attack bonuses that Barrows sets confer, the Verac's set also provides moderate Prayer bonuses at the price of a marginally lower Ranged Defence bonus. In addition, it also does not penalise Magic defence.
Set effect
Defiler: Attacks have a 25% chance of having a guaranteed hit, ignoring accuracy.
It is a popular choice when fighting bosses with high Defence with a low budget.
The set effect is useful for player-killing as it can hit straight through the target's defences.
Verac's set effect does not work on most monsters that make use of protection prayers. The only exception is the Kalphite Queen, as her "protection prayers" are really just increased defence.

Bonuses
When a full set of Verac's and the Amulet of the damned are equipped, the wearer receives an additional +7 Prayer bonus (on top of the amulet's +3). Thus, it would make +28 Prayer bonus overall. Degradation
Barrows equipment degrades as it is used. Equipment received from the Barrows minigame is fully repaired and can be used for 15 hours of combat until it degrades completely and requires repair before it can be used again. Barrows armour degrades even if the player is using protection prayers or not taking damage. Barrows equipment does not suffer in performance as it degrades from fully repaired to fully degraded. Fully repaired Barrows items start out with no numbers in their names, e.g. Verac the Defiled's equipment. It will become Verac the Defiled's equipment 100 the first time it's used in combat. Eventually it will degrade to Verac the Defiled's equipment 75, then 50, then 25 and finally 0 at which point the armour will be unusable until repaired. Additionally, Barrows equipment may only be traded if fully repaired or fully degraded.
When dropped or lost on death, any piece of Barrows equipment will automatically degrade to 0. Players who attempt to drop Barrows equipment will receive a warning message about this. As a bank note, dropping will not break the equipment.
There are two ways to repair Barrows armour. Players can talk to any of the NPCs listed below and they will repair the items for a price, or repair the pieces themselves using an armour stand in any player-owned house. The equipment can be repaired at any stage, and the cost will be adjusted according to how much it has degraded. The repair costs below are as if the equipment has fully degraded.
The following NPCs can repair the armour:
- Bob - the axe seller in Lumbridge
- Tindel Marchant - the weapon and armour repairman at Port Khazard
- Dunstan - the smith in Burthorpe
- Squire - in the workshop area of the Void Knights' Outpost
