Dr Banikan is an archaeologist who specialises in Zarosian history. During his travels, he spent some time studying one of the few remaining traces of the Zarosian Empire and became fascinated with it, inspiring him to become an archaeologist to ensure history does not become forgotten.

During Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire, the player helps him uncover a military installation beneath the Digsite, where the capital of the Empire once stood. Towards the end of the quest, it is revealed that Dr Banikan has actually been Azzanadra in disguise the entire time.

Trivia

• Dr Banikan's name is an anagram of RuneScape's Dr Nabanik, and during Desert Treasure II, he is first wrongly introduced with the name, with Terry Balando saying "Nabanik? No, that's not right..." before telling the player his name is Banikan. His design is also directly based on Nabanik.
