Hazeel is a Zamorakian Mahjarrat, featured in the quests Hazeel Cult and Secrets of the North.

History

Early History

Hazeel assisted Zamorak in his rebellion against Zaros. Towards the end of the Fourth Age, Hazeel dominated the region where Ardougne stands today alongside his protégé General Khazard, during the Fourth Age, until he was defeated by Saradominist warriors in the early Fifth Age, led by the Carnillean family and sealed in a state of torpor, with the remnants of his followers taking refuge in the Ardougne Sewers.

Resurrection

Around Year 169 of the Fifth Age, Hazeel's Cult attempted to revive him by stealing some scrolls from the Carnillean mansion, having placed an inside agent, Butler Jones, for the task. Despite his efforts, Jones could not find the scroll. A passing adventurer responded to the family's help in dealing with the cult, although the player had the option of helping them.

Should the adventurer oppose the cult, they revealed Jones as a cult member, who was subsequently arrested for his crimes. If they decided to help, they joined the cult and helped Jones find the scroll, allowing Hazeel to return to Gielinor. Hazeel would thank the adventurer for their efforts and make his way to the north.

Secrets of the North

Sometime afterwards, Ceril was murdered in his home, resulting in an investigation that placed the adventurer as a suspect due to their recent contact with the Carnilleans. The adventurer discovered at the scene evidence pointing to a Khazard soldier named Evelot, although upon confronting and defeating her, she denied killing him and sent them to the cult.

If the adventurer opposed the cult, Hazeel was upset with their presence upon being called but listened to their case. He was curious about who wanted to restore him, but because they were not known, was cautious of their motives. Upon hearing Khazard being involved, he had Clivet summon him, who likewise denied involvement. He warned the adventurer to not oppose him again or he would personally end them himself. If the adventurer helped the cult, Hazeel was pleased to see his saviour.

After questioning the family, they reported their discovery to the two Mahjarrat and began to head up to the north. When Khazard mentioned ice trolls, the adventurer recognized them as the ice trolls of Weiss and stated that they knew them, so Hazeel had them tag along. During the subsequent investigation, they found an ancient seal which he suspected was the unknown party trying to acquire an artefact within, likely a Zarosian Mahjarrat trying to regain strength. The adventurer discovered Jhallan, who was subsequently captured by the assassin. Hazeel realised that they had failed and began making failsafe preparations.

Hunt for the Horns

Upon learning that the adventurer had entered Ghorrock Prison to search for Duke Sucellus, Hazeel realised that the artefact was actually the Frostenhorn and rushed there to retrieve it, but discovered that it had been destroyed by an unknown party.

When the Ancient Vault was opened, Hazeel arrived shortly after Azzanadra did, followed by Enakhra and Akthanakos. When the adventurer expressed surprise over the Mahjarrat appearing all of a sudden, Hazeel told them that the vault had been designed with magic intended to prevent them from opening it. Enakhra was mildly annoyed he had not supported her plan, but he reminded her that the hired help was unable to obtain even a single medallion. After Enakhra claimed that the Zarosians could not stop them, Azzanadra stated that there were five Mahjarrat. When they guessed the other to be Khazard, Hazeel stated that he was attending to business in the North and accused them of hiding someone, before Enakhra realised that the archaeologist was a Mahjarrat and fired a spell at him, revealing him to be Sliske.

Hazeel fought three of the Barrows brothers while Azzanadra handled the other three and the adventurer fought four wights. After the last wight fell, Sliske decreed the battle to be over and teleported away with the horn, proceeded by Enakhra and Akthanakos to inform their allies of the news. Hazeel scolded Azzanadra for not being able to control his "pet", but he stated that Sliske had always acted on his own. Azzanadra suggested working together to stop Sliske, which Hazeel initially declined, but when he reminded him that he had just said Sliske posed a threat to them all, Hazeel told him that only time would tell before he teleported away.
