Argenthorg was the son of King Healthorg, seen when reading Bolrie's diary during The Path of Glouphrie. After his father's death, Argenthorg ran against Bolrie - the leader of the Tree Gnome Village - in the election for the next king of the Tree Gnome Stronghold.

Under the advice from his advisor, Bolrie figured it would be easy to show the gnome populace that Argenthorg was unfit to succeed his father. A confrontation with Bolrie soon occurred in which human food was discovered next to Argenthorg, claiming he would spread human influence in gnomish culture in an attempt to discredit him as Healthorg's successor. However, having been wary of illusions thanks to his father, Argenthorg asked Yewnock to switch on his anti-illusion device and exposed the advisor as Glouphrie the Untrusted.

Having been associated with Glouphrie, Bolrie was forced to stand down as a candidate to the throne, and Argenthorg was shortly pronounced king of the gnome stronghold until his death.
