The roadmap revealed for the first half of 2024.

The Winter Summit 2024 was a livestream event on 20 January 2024 where Jagex announced several potential upcoming updates.

Defender of Varrock, While Guthix Sleeps, the Wilderness updates, and content in Varlamore: Part II were polled, with all of the polled content passing.

24 January 2024

Scurrius, The Rat King

First mentioned at the Summer Summit 2023 as a "mid-level PvM update", Scurrius will release on 24 January 2024.

Spring 2024

Defender of Varrock

First released in RuneScape on 29 September 2008, Defender of Varrock is an Experienced quest revolving around the Mahjarrat Zemouregal and his plan to invade Varrock with the help of an undead Arrav. If added, the quest will receive various changes to bring it up to modern quest standards.

Wilderness Updates

The Chaos Temple in level 11 Wilderness may potentially receive some profitable improvements. Undead Pirates will begin to populate the area, sporting a consistently profitable loot table while also being quick to kill.

Potential tradeable rewards from Undead Pirates include:

  • Chivalry Prayer Scroll — Allows the usage of the Chivalry prayer without needing the 65 Defence requirement for King's Ransom.
  • Adamant Seeds — Same as mithril seeds, except they move the player one tile east instead of west.
  • Blip Blocking Scroll — Blocks the player teleporting ability of Elder Chaos druids.

Potential improvements to the Wilderness Agility Course, Wilderness Slayer, the Wilderness Resource Area, and the Fountain of Rune are also being considered.

20 March 2024

Varlamore: Part I

First mentioned at the Summer Summit 2023, parts of Varlamore will release on 20 March 2024, including Civitas illa Fortis, the Avium Savannah, and Ralos' Rise.

Content within the first part of Varlamore includes three quests, the Fortis Colosseum (which is based off of the Tasakaal Trials from the April 2022 Game Jam), the Hunter Guild, and the Perilous Moons minigame, which features a handful of demi-bosses meant to introduce players to various PvM mechanics.

Summer 2024

Deadman 2024

Deadman Mode will be returning in 2024, with improvements to the formula set in Deadman: Apocalypse, such as quality-of-life surrounding bank keys and looting, Sigil rebalancing, and tweaks to Breaches.

While Guthix Sleeps

First released in RuneScape on 26 November 2008, While Guthix Sleeps is a Grandmaster quest about Lucien's attempt to obtain the Stone of Jas. If added, the quest will receive various changes to bring it up to modern quest standards, along with ensuring it fits Jagex's future plans for the Mahjarrat storyline in Old School.

Varlamore: Part II

The second part of Varlamore will focus on the island of Aldarin and the mountain range north of Civitas illa Fortis. Content may include a new Herblore activity and a new group boss.

Official Client Improvements

2024 will receive two big changes to the New Official Client. The first is an official HD Mode, similar to that of RuneLite's 117 HD plugin or the HDOS client. The official HD mode will feature fully dynamic lighting, sunlight effects, and fog, while retaining the 2007 models. The second is an Official Client Plugin API, allowing players to create and use their own custom plugins for the Official Client, similar to RuneLite's Plugin Hub.

Sailing progress update

A roadmap concering the development roadmap for the Sailing skill was also shown off. Details about Sailing's current progress can be viewed here.
