Summer Summit 2023
The Summer Summit 2023 was a livestream event on 19 August 2023 where Jagex announced several potential upcoming updates.
All of these except Deadman: Apocalypse, Forestry: Part II, and the Trailblazer Reloaded League were polled, with all of the polled content passing.
25 August 2023
Deadman: Apocalypse
A variant of Deadman Mode slated for 25 August 2023 in which players will perform various tasks under a point-based system in order to unlock powerful sigils to aid them in PvP, as well as face breaches, which are daily events of powerful monsters such as bosses spawning into the overworld and will drop blighted versions of powerful equipment upon being defeated.
Autumn 2023
Chambers of Xeric Changes
Chambers of Xeric will be receiving a number of quality-of-life (QoL) changes:
- Scouting will be improved by an in-game system that allows players to better define their raid layout rather than relying on rerolling randomly generated ones. One proposal for how this would be implemented is by using "raid tokens", which may be rewarded to the player at the end of the raid or purchasable outside the raid, however it will ultimately be up to the community via polling to determine how exactly this would get implemented.
- Scaling will be improved by allowing players to scale their raids without the use of other players or alt accounts. Whether or not this option would be free or cost gold is undetermined and will also be up to the community via polling.
- There will be additional balance and QoL changes for Chambers of Xeric revealed at a later time.
Forestry: Part II
The second phase of Forestry will be released, which includes campfires, two-handed axes, sawmill vouchers, more events, new cosmetics, and more.
Path of Glouphrie
An Old School take on The Path of Glouphrie quest that originally released back in 3 September 2007 will be released alongside improvements to the quest, such as an expanded dungeon and fixes for the unique slayer monsters that reside within, as well as the unique warped sceptre, which would be a Magic staff that sits somewhere between Iban's staff and trident of the seas in terms of power.
Halloween Event
As with every year, a new Halloween event will be releasing around the time of Halloween.
Winter 2023
Mid-Level PvM Update
A new boss for mid-level players is planned to be released, which will act as a way to bridge the gap between mid-level and end-game PvM content, potentially teaching mechanics such as Prayer switching, gear switching, flinching, ticks, or possibly other ones, however this is all yet to be determined. More information will be provided at a later date.
Christmas Event
As with every year, a new Christmas event will be releasing around the time of Christmas.
Leagues IV: Trailblazer Reloaded
Leagues will be returning in Winter 2023, this time as a rebooted version of Trailblazer League (Leagues II) called Trailblazer Reloaded League (Leagues IV), but with many changes to keep things fresh and interesting. There will be new tasks, new relics, and the option to choose Kourend & Kebos as a region unlock, alongside all of the new content that has been added to the game since Leagues II. Some relics from Leagues II have also been removed or revamped, and a new relic tier has been added. New rewards will also be released.
Trophy tiers will no longer be dependent on ever-changing point brackets on the Leagues HiScores, rather they will have static point thresholds that must be met in order to be eligible for those specific tiers. Consequently, this means that players can now be locked in to the highest tier they achieve without having to worry about their tier and ranks constantly changing due to competition from other players.
Early 2024
Varlamore
The region of Varlamore will finally become accessible to players, introducing a massive area to explore along with new NPCs, monsters, bosses, dungeons, skilling activities, quests, and more.
Players will be able to attempt the Fortis Colosseum, a wave-based PvM challenge offering more replayability than wave-based minigames such as the Fight Caves, and a reward system that becomes more rewarding the further players can survive in the colosseum.
The Hunter Guild will be available in the Avium Savannah, offering new activities, improvements, and rewards to the Hunter skill.
Cam Torum will be a dwarven town below ground that is home to a new dungeon "best described as Forthos meets Barrows".
Sailing
Old School RuneScape 's first new skill will begin development, and have a possible release date of some later time in 2024 at the earliest.
