The iron platebody is an armour used in melee with stat bonuses between bronze and steel. It has no Defence requirement to equip, which makes it the best platebody for players just starting out. It also provides greater protection than an iron chainbody. Like all platebodies, however, it gives a crippling negative bonus to the user's Ranged and Magic stats.

If playing as an Ironman, an ironman platebody with equivalent stats can be acquired by talking to the Ironman tutor in Lumbridge.

Players with level 33 Smithing can make one by using 5 iron bars on an anvil while carrying a hammer, granting 125 experience. Alternatively, they can be bought from Horvik's Smithy or Zenesha's Plate Mail Body Shop.
