Two large elven pictograms decorate the south-western wall of the Temple of Light on the ground floor[UK]1st floor[US], serving as elements of non-interactive and non-examinable scenery. The pictograms greatly resemble the figures often displayed on the signs of public lavatories, implying that the rectangular surfaces they adorn are in fact entrances to one of Gielinor's rare toilets. This is merely a façade however, as nothing of the sort hides behind them.

The two signs both seem to depict an elven figure, judging by the elongated ears that are characteristic of the elves, but are otherwise generalised to a large extent, showing little other particularities. The only trait that separates the two figures is the type of garment that covers their legs: the first appears to be wearing a pair of trousers, while the second sports a skirt. It is therefore possible that the elven society that originally built the temple may have featured some degree of sex-separated sanitary practices.

Although neither of these scenery elements can be examined in-game, an examine text is nevertheless assigned to them in the RuneScape source files, which are both marked by a certain ambiguity. Upon examining the first elven pictogram, the voice in the adventurer's head marvels: "Can they do that?". This could be interpreted as an expression of astonishment with regards to the elves possessing digestive ability; alternatively, it could be read as a (fourth-wall breaking) comment on the developers' nerve to add toilets to a game known for not featuring any. The description given when examining the second figure is a more general statement of dread as to what might lurk beyond, in case it were an entryway. This likely gives voice to the common cultural classification of defecation as a vulgar or private activity.

Curiously, two of the male pictograms can also be seen side by side in the room of the temple that holds the Fragment of Seren, which the adventurer enters during one of the cutscenes that plays along the course of the Song of the Elves, when Lord Iorwerth gains entry to the temple in an attempt to free his false goddess. Upon completion of this quest, players may access the memoriam device located on the top floor of the Tower of Voices if they would wish to experience this scene once more. The scene in question is simply labelled 'The Temple of Light' within the device's interface.
