A spirit seed is a rare seed that members can use to grow a spirit tree at level 83 Farming. Players can pay a gardener 5 monkey nuts, 1 monkey bar, and 1 ground tooth to watch over a growing spirit tree.

There are five patches, one each at Port Sarim, Etceteria, Brimhaven, Hosidius, and the Farming Guild (at level 85 Farming). At level 83, a player can only have one spirit tree planted at a time. At level 91, a player can have two planted at a time, and at level 99, a player can have unlimited spirit trees planted at a time. Players are not limited to the number of spirit tree saplings they can own, only planted saplings based on the appropriate Farming level. A spirit tree can also be planted in a Player-owned house with level 75 Construction and does not count towards the player's tree limit.

Spirit seeds are obtainable from bird nests. This means it is possible for players to indirectly buy them by purchasing mole skin/claws from other players on the Grand Exchange and trading them to Wyson until a spirit seed is found in a nest. They are also a potential reward for completing easy, medium and hard farming contracts in the Farming Guild or defeating certain monsters.

Garden pies and spicy stews can be used to boost a player's Farming level, up to 3 levels and 5 levels respectively, allowing them to create spirit tree saplings or plant them. Boosting is required when creating the sapling and when planting the tree. It is also possible to use boosts to be able to plant more spirit trees than the player's normal Farming level allows. When boosting, note that the planting the seed in the pot and planting the sapling requires 83 farming. They can both be done in one boost if timed correctly. Saplings grow on a global tick which occurs once every 5 minutes. First determine when this tick happens with a different seedling. Also, check with a different boost if the skill reduction tick isn't too close to the sapling tick. If the ticks don't overlap, you can easily grow the seedling and plant the sapling in one boost.

As there are limited spots the player can plant spirit trees, any excess spirit seeds the player has can be traded in at Guildmaster Jane for tier 5 Seed packs which are worth an average of Lua error: .. Tier 5 seed packs have an approximately 1/22 chance of containing another spirit seed which can itself be traded in for an additional pack, meaning the average value of a seed pack when trading in all spirit seeds obtained for additional packs converges to the slightly higher value of Lua error: ..
