Torag the Corrupted's equipment is obtainable from the Barrows minigame. Completing the Barrows minigame does not guarantee players will get a Barrows item. The set consists of a helmet, platebody, platelegs, and a two-handed pair of hammers.

Torag's set requires 70 Defence to wear the armour and 70 Attack and 70 Strength to wield the weapon.

The armour is popular among players for their high defensive bonuses for a fairly cheap cost, making it ideal for tanking enemy attacks. Only Justiciar armour surpasses Torag's armour in overall defence.

The hammers carry a fairly high crush bonus, potentially making them useful for enemies such as waterfiends or players equipped with platebodies. Additionally, the hammers hit twice per attack, rolling damage normally and splitting it in two hitsplats. This makes them extremely useful at the Moons of Peril, due to the special flat armour stat the demi-bosses use incentivising the usage of weapons with multiple hitsplats.

Set effect

A player activating Torag's set effect, Corruption.

Corruption: Successful Melee attacks have a 25% chance of lowering the victim's run energy by 20%, similar to the Abyssal whip special attack, Energy Drain.

Like Karil's set, it has no effect on NPCs. Also, because this effect is only active when fighting other players, it can only be used in PvP minigames or in the Wilderness when player killing.

In spite of having the reputation of the worst special effect, if a player's target is to slow down their opponent to a walking pace, i.e. if they are run-and-gunning (ranging from far distances and running), this can be effectively done by performing a whip special attack (which would lower the opponent's run energy by 10 percent), followed by Torag's set effect. This would leave the opponent with 70 run energy.

When Torag's set and the Amulet of the damned are equipped, the wearer will have their Defence increased according to the amount of damage taken; the boost is a 1% increase in Defence for every 1% health the wearer is missing.

The effect provided by the set alongside the amulet can be used to achieve an extreme level of Defence, and may be viable for tanking powerful attacks from bosses such as the God Wars generals or the Moons of Peril. However, since Torag's hammers aren't a particularly good weapon, it is recommended to reserve this technique for team strategies only.

Degradation

Barrows equipment degrades as it is used. Equipment received from the Barrows minigame is fully repaired and can be used for 15 hours of combat until it degrades completely and requires repair before it can be used again. Barrows armour degrades even if the player is using protection prayers or not taking damage. Barrows equipment does not suffer in performance as it degrades from fully repaired to fully degraded. Fully repaired Barrows items start out with no numbers in their names, e.g. Torag the Corrupted's equipment. It will become Torag the Corrupted's equipment 100 the first time it's used in combat. Eventually it will degrade to Torag the Corrupted's equipment 75, then 50, then 25 and finally 0 at which point the armour will be unusable until repaired. Additionally, Barrows equipment may only be traded if fully repaired or fully degraded.

When dropped or lost on death, any piece of Barrows equipment will automatically degrade to 0. Players who attempt to drop Barrows equipment will receive a warning message about this. As a bank note, dropping will not break the equipment.

There are two ways to repair Barrows armour. Players can talk to any of the NPCs listed below and they will repair the items for a price, or repair the pieces themselves using an armour stand in any player-owned house. The equipment can be repaired at any stage, and the cost will be adjusted according to how much it has degraded. The repair costs below are as if the equipment has fully degraded.

The following NPCs can repair the armour:
