The ancient gorilla greegree is used for transforming into an ancient gorilla on Ape Atoll. To make one, a player must take a monkey talisman and a monkey skull to Zooknock, located at the very end of the Ape Atoll Dungeon.

Unlike the other two gorilla greegrees, this type is made using a skull found in the Temple of Marimbo Dungeon. Completion of the hard Western Provinces Diary is required to open the door to the room in which it spawns. While transformed, a player can use a rope on a red banana tree to pick the red banana needed in the Recipe for Disaster Awowogei subquest.

A glitch exists where if the player gets caught and they try to transform back, there is a small chance they will lose their greegree; however, this glitch is not common. If the player has a full inventory, and teleports from Ape Atoll without removing their greegree, they will lose it.

After Monkey Madness II, it can be reobtained from Zooknock in the Tree Gnome Stronghold if lost, by bringing him another monkey skull.

Trivia

• The chathead of the ancient gorilla is black much like an Elder Guard, rather than blue which is how it appears in-game.
• This item has existed since Monkey Madness I was released, but was not obtainable until the release of the Western Provinces Diary on 5 March 2015.
