A monkey talisman is used for making greegrees until the completion of Monkey Madness II. When taken to Zooknock along with the corresponding materials, he will enchant it into a greegree.

It is first acquired by talking to the Monkey Child on Ape Atoll while wearing a M'speak amulet. The talismans sold at Tutab's Magical Market may only be bought after Zooknock enchants the original, or the player can get another one for free from the monkey child.

Obtaining a greegree

To make a greegree, the player must kill any type of monkey (excluding a skeleton monkey), pick up the bones, and bring them with the monkey talisman to Zooknock at the very end of the Ape Atoll Dungeon. To get there, go down the ladder south of the atoll and follow the long and dangerous tunnel to the other end of the dungeon. It is strongly recommended that players have level 43 Prayer for Protect from Melee. It is also a good idea to bring prayer potions and/or energy potions. After Monkey Madness 2, Zooknook will give talismans without the need for bones and will be located in the Gnome Stronghold

Note: There are nine greegrees in total, but only seven of them require bones; the four other monkeys that can be killed for bones are monkey archers, ninja monkey guards, monkey zombies, and gorilla monkey guards. The two exceptions are the ancient gorilla and Kruk monkey greegrees, which require the monkey skull or Kruk's paw, respectively.

Strategy

During Monkey Madness I, the monkey child asks for 20 bananas in exchange for a monkey talisman, but the player only has to give him 4-10 because he can't count. To get another talisman after that, they must talk to him again. The player will tell him that they lost it, and he will start to cry. They can either log out of the game or wait for around a minute (watch out for the Monkey's Aunt or use a greegree) and then he will cheer up, allowing them to take another one. This can be done as many times as needed.

An excellent strategy is to get all greegree types after acquiring the first (the Karamjan monkey greegree). With the greegree equipped, sneak up behind any monkey, then quickly change back into human form to attack it. This way, all damage is avoided until the player reaches the monkey. Bring decent gear, food, antipoison potions, and prayer potions for protection prayers. If killing a monkey guard, players can recharge their prayer points by praying at the gorilla statue.

Be advised that greegrees may not be equipped while in combat.
