Advanced data
NPC ID5267

The Sleeping Monkey is a monkey guard that wanders around in the big building on the south end of Marim, just east of the rune shop.

The building itself features a trapdoor that is locked from the inside, a few crates, and a ladder to the floor above.

The talk option results in the chatbox message stating The monkey looks a little too sleepy to talk to.

Trivia

  • The Sleeping Monkey is intended to be stationary and asleep while a player is standing on the dark tiles around the edge of the building he resides in, using a greegree, or in human form after completion of Monkey Madness II. He then wakes up and starts moving around when a player in human form (prior to Monkey Madness II) moves to the lighter tiles in the centre of the building and becomes visible to the guards. This does not function correctly because after a few minutes in the sleeping state the monkey will get up and start moving around, despite still being considered asleep. As a result, the sleeping animation is only used for a few minutes after a player stands in the middle of the building in human form and subsequently hides, uses a greegree, gets caught, or leaves. If a player in human form goes to the buildings centre area while the monkey is in the bugged standing up sleeping state, he will still play the animation for getting up and standing, despite already being standing.
