Advanced data
NPC ID5284

Bonzara is a mysterious monkey dressed in purple. He's found inside of the gorilla statue (possibly of Marimbo) underneath the arena where the player fights the jungle demon during Monkey Madness I.

If the player defeats the jungle demon and goes down the trapdoor found on the outer edge of the arena, the gnomes will disappear from the platform. Players can still find Bonzara however, by entering the crack at in the statue, and he offers a free teleport back to the north-western part of Ape Atoll, just as Zooknock did before leaving the arena. Note that this teleport places the player near some snakes, and spiders; players are recommended to simply use a spell or jewellery to teleport away from the platform.

Bonzara apparently does not share the same hatred of humans held by the other monkeys on Ape Atoll, and is friendly towards the player, even as a human.

Trivia

  • The staff he's holding seems to be the shape of the symbol of Marimbo. The same symbol appears on his chest.
  • Interestingly, declining his teleport will result in him saying "we WILL meet again." However, he plays no role in the sequel quest, Monkey Madness II.
  • Bonzara is able to speak with you even if you are not wearing the Monkeyspeak amulet.
  • Bonzara may be a reference to Bonzi Buddy, a virtual assistant that was shut down shortly before the quest was released. Both are purple monkeys, and share a similar-sounding name.
