Advanced data | ||||
Type | settlement | |||
Marim is a settlement on Ape Atoll, inhabited by a population of societal monkeys who are ruled over by King Awowogei. It is only accessible to players who have partially or fully completed the Monkey Madness I quest, and most of the quest takes place there. The village is most likely named after Marimbo, the monkey goddess. There are various shops and stalls around the village, including the only shop that sells Dragon scimitars.
Players who have not taken the form of a monkey using a greegree will find themselves the target of aggressive creatures throughout Marim and the rest of the island. These include poison-inducing jungle snakes and spiders, Ninja Monkey Archers and Ninja Monkey Guards, and Gorilla Monkey Guards. Being spotted by the monkey locals or interacting with them may result in the player being knocked out and sent to the prison. However, upon completion of Monkey Madness II, a greegree becomes unnecessary for this purpose as all inhabitants of Marim become tolerant towards the player.
Getting there
Initial access to Marim requires the player to first travel to Ape Atoll via Lumdo on Crash Island during Monkey Madness I. To get there, speak to Daero[1] on the 1st floor[UK]2nd floor[US] of the Grand Tree. From there, have Waydar fly you to Crash Island.
There are several alternative transportation methods available after completion of Monkey Madness I:
- A Fairy ring (CLR) will take players to the Ape Atoll Agility Course, just south of Marim. 48 Agility and a ninja monkey greegree[2] are required to exit the course safely and travel to Marim.
- The level 64 Ape Atoll Teleport is available in the normal spellbook after Freeing King Awowogei during Recipe for Disaster. The spell takes the player to the safe upstairs section of the Temple of Marimbo, on the eastern edge of Marim.
- The level 90 Ape Atoll Teleport in the Arceuus spellbook, as well as the equivalent magic tablet, takes players to the inside of the entrance to Ape Atoll Dungeon, a little ways south from the entrance gates to Marim.
- The Gnome glider network can take players to the western edge of Marim after completion of Monkey Madness II. The fastest way to access the glider network is by climbing to the top floor of the Grand Tree.
Points of interest
Shops
The marketplace in Marim is home to several shops:
Thievable Stalls
The marketplace is also home to a variety of thievable stalls. Unlike similar stalls elsewhere, those in Marim are unique in that their owners will talk to the player even if they have recently stolen from them.
Stall | Level | Experience | Loot | Respawn Time | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Food stall | 5 | 16 | Banana | 3.6 seconds | |
Crafting stall | 5 | 20 | Ring, bracelet, amulet or necklace mould, chisel or gold bar | 4.8 seconds | |
General stall | 5 | 25 | Pot, hammer or tinderbox | 4.8 seconds | |
Magic stall | 65 | 90 | Air, earth, fire, law or nature rune | 7.2 seconds | |
Scimitar stall | 65 | 210 | Iron, steel, mithril or adamant scimitar | 19.2 seconds |
Ape Atoll Bank
Once players finish Monkey Madness II, they can use a bank chest in Marim where Jumaane serves as the bank teller.
Temple of Marimbo
Situated at the eastern edge of the city lies the Temple of Marimbo, which is home to several Gorilla Monkey Guards. Unlike the Ninja Monkey Guards, players are not thrown into jail when attempting to fight them. The temple is a popular low-intensity training area, as there is a prayer altar inside. Players can use the Protect from Melee prayer to avoid damage and automatically fight the Monkey Guards until their prayer runs out, as long as Auto Retaliate is turned on and Monkey Madness II is not completed.
The Temple of Marimbo Dungeon contains a large quantity of Monkey Zombies and is an effective location for Ranged training.
