The ancient icon is an untradeable drop received from defeating the Phantom Muspah, who can be fought upon completion of Secrets of the North. It can be brought to Eblis alongside the ancient staff to upgrade it to the ancient sceptre. This process is irreversible and the sceptre is untradeable.

Inspecting the icon will show a message, "The icon has a strange magical aura about it. Perhaps Eblis will be able to tell you more..."

Players can break down ancient icons using a pestle and mortar to receive 5,000 ancient essence, giving them an indirect value of 50,000.

Trivia

  • When pitched in the poll blog, the item's name was "Soulblight icon". This was because the name of the quest and its rewards were polled by the development team as a "Mysterious Quest", where they wished to keep the Zarosian nature of the rewards a secret.
    • The true name of the quest and its rewards from the boss were then revealed in the Winter Summit 2022 a month later.
