Bloodbark armour

Bloodbark armour is a set of members-only magic armour that requires 60 Magic and 60 Defence to wear. Each piece of bloodbark armour can be made by using the corresponding piece of splitbark armour on either the true Blood Altar or Kourend's Blood Altar, and costs a certain amount of blood runes. Infusing splitbark armour into bloodbark armour requires sufficient Runecraft skill, as well as having learned how to do so via reading the Runescroll of bloodbark.

  • The gauntlets and boots require 100 blood runes each and 77 Runecraft.
  • The helm requires 250 blood runes and 79 Runecraft.
  • The body and legs require 500 blood runes each (1,000 runes total) and 81 Runecraft.

Thus, crafting a full Bloodbark armour set requires 1,450 blood runes.

The melee defence is comparable to adamant armour (and slightly better than that of Ahrim's robes), and the total Magic bonus is 5 greater than that of mystic robes. The helm, body and legs each give a Magic damage bonus of 1% for a total of 3%. In addition to their stats, each piece of armour increases the amount that blood spells heal by 2% of the damage dealt. When the full set of armour is equipped, blood spells will heal the caster's Hitpoints by 35% of the amount of damage inflicted.[a] When worn alongside the Ancient sceptre, this increases to 38.5% of the amount of damage inflicted.

It can be stored in a magic wardrobe in a player-owned house.

Despite using blood magic for its built-in spell, bloodbark armour has no effect on the Sanguinesti staff.

Development history

Bloodbark armour as shown in the Warding Design Blog.

Bloodbark armour was originally proposed alongside the Warding skill. In the original proposal, players would have been able to ward the robes with level 55 Warding using vyre silk and bloodbark, and would have required level 55 Magic and Defence to wear. The defensive stats for the armour were also slightly higher than the version that was eventually repolled and released. The original stats are shown below.

Notes

  1. ^ As the amount of Hitpoints restored by a blood spell is first rounded down before the bonus of bloodbark armour is applied, the total healing effect might be lower in practice.[1]
