The tome of water is a book held in place of a shield that is a possible reward from Tempoross. The tome of water requires level 50 in Magic to wield.

The tome can be charged with soaked pages to act as a source of water runes whilst equipped. Each page adds 20 charges to the tome. It can hold 1,000 pages and requires 3,174,000 to fully charge. Each charge costs 158.70. If a charge (1/20 or more) is consumed and the page is removed, the entire page will be consumed.

Empty tomes can be traded in for 25 soaked pages per tome (value of 79,350) by speaking to the retired sailor. Non-ironmen players are recommended to sell excess tomes on the Grand Exchange instead, as they are far more valuable when sold to other players.

Effects

A charged tome of water provides the following benefits:

  • Casting an offensive water spell from the standard spellbook with a charged tome equipped will increase the spell's accuracy and damage by 10% against NPCs and 20% against players (stacking multiplicatively with Magic damage bonuses), and consume one charge per cast.
  • Curse spells such as Vulnerability and Entangle gain a 20% boost to their accuracy, likewise consuming one charge per cast.[1] Although commonly classified as a curse spell, the Tele Block spell does not qualify as a curse in this context, and hence does not receive this accuracy boost.
  • Stat-draining curse spells (i.e. Confuse, Weaken, Curse, Vulnerability, Enfeeble, and Stun) also gain a 50% boost to their effectiveness. For example, Confuse will drain an opponent's Attack level by 7% rather than 5%, while Stun reduces Attack by 15% instead of 10%.

Casting any other spell that requires water runes will not consume a charge. Even though ice spells are combat spells and require water runes to cast, they do not receive the increase in accuracy and damage bonus, and do not consume any charges, as they are not part of the standard spellbook.
