Carl is the barkeep for the Rat & Bat pub in the town of Slepe.

According to him, the previous barkeep had to leave due to his fear of being infected by the plague and turning into a sleeper. In reality, the previous barkeep was killed for refusing to aid Damien Leucurte and Kroy.

He plays a part in Sins of the Father, where he is under orders from Damien Leucurte to serve bloody bracers to the citizens of Slepe, which have been drugged with the fabled Elixir of everlasting, which causes them to fall into permanent slumber. After the player uncovers Damien's conspiracy Carl flees and is replaced by Roy.

• Carl's name is a reference to the television show How I Met Your Mother, along with the patrons of the pub, Yenrab, Lahsram, and Erodoeht. Carl is the bartender of the MacLaren's Pub in the show.
