A long bone is a drop from various monsters, usually those that drop big bones with some exceptions, at a universal rate of 1/400.[1]
After completion of Death to the Dorgeshuun, long bones may be sold to Barlak, in Dorgesh-Kaan, for 1,000 coins each. Note that Barlak can take them from your bank, so it is not necessary to have any bones in your inventory. At level 30 Construction, he will give a lecture about the skill granting 4,500 Construction experience per bone, equivalent to 42,225 coins worth of oak planks. He will convert all long bones in the player's inventory and bank at once. The Carpenter's Outfit will not apply to the Construction experience rewarded. This level 30 Construction requirement is not boostable.
Long bones can be buried for 15.1 Prayer experience, but this is not recommended. Burying a long bone in the Catacombs of Kourend will restore 2 prayer points, the same as big bones.
The bonecrusher will not automatically bury the bone, allowing the player to pick it up. Bones to Bananas and Bones to Peaches will not convert long bones. Long bones cannot be used on the Exposed altar in The Teomat.
It takes 2,894 long bones to level Construction from 30 to 99.
