Retribution is an overhead Prayer unlocked at level 46 Prayer. In some cases of death, Retribution can inflict damage up to 25% of the user's Prayer level, rounded down, to nearby enemies.

If a player dies from another player that dealt the final blow with either the spell Vengeance or from a Ring of recoil, Retribution will not activate. This probably occurs with other forms of damage reflection (and probably in PVM as well), but has not been tested.

If a player dies by Retribution damage while also having Retribution active, it will not trigger, eliminating the possibility of a chain reaction.

Damage

The maximum amount of damage dealt is based on a player's base prayer level. The formula is ${\textstyle \lfloor PrayerLevel\times {\frac {1}{4}}\rfloor }$.
