The tip jar can be built in the tip jar space of the garden and formal garden in a player-owned house. It requires 40 Construction to build and when built, it gives 651 experience. The player must have a hammer and a saw in their inventory to build it.

Guests in a player's house may use the tip jar to gift coins and platinum tokens to the house owner.

Behaviour

When a player tips the host, the host receives a message in the chatbox, stating [Player name] has left you a tip: Coins x [number of coins] if coins are tipped, and [Player name] has left you a tip: Platinum token x [number of tokens] if platinum tokens are tipped. Players can mute this notification by right-clicking "Setup" on the tip jar.

Any money stored in the tip jar is permanently stored until the player withdraws the money, even if they have logged out. Players can enable automatic deposit of the tip jar's contents to the bank upon logging out by right-clicking "Setup" on the tip jar.

Using the tip jar as a host will display its contents, displaying the coin and "platinum" balances separately. Next, options are presented to withdraw the entire balance in the jar to the player's inventory or the player's bank. When withdrawing to the player's inventory and the player's available inventory spaces are limited, coins will be withdrawn first. If the tip jar is empty, instead no options are given.

Using the tip jar as a guest will display an interface to select an amount to tip, which will take from available money in the guest player's inventory. Using coins or platinum tokens on your own tip jar will display You can't use the tip jar to give yourself gifts. in the chatbox.

The tip jar cannot be removed in building mode if it contains money. The room containing the tip jar similarly cannot be removed.

Duplicate tip jars

Players may construct multiple tip jars in their house. Every jar shares the same balance, and adding or removing coins from one will accordingly affect all other jars.

Duplicate tip jars share the restriction of being unable to be removed if they contain money. Players are not restricted from building additional jars while the existing jars contain money.

Players are permitted to remove a room containing a duplicate tip jar while their jars contain money, provided that there are at least two jars in the house. This will remove the jar in that room, bypassing the restriction of removing the jar itself. The last jar cannot be removed this way.

Notes

The formal garden's tip jar is placed in a slightly different location from the garden's tip jar and may partially block an entrance to another room.

Ironmen cannot give or receive tips, even in their own tip jar. Group Ironmen can give tips to other members of their group just as normal accounts.
