The tome of experience is received from Ivan Strom on completion of the Sins of the Father quest. Reading it opens a window to select the skill a player wishes to advance. The player must be at least level 60 in their chosen skill. In the event this item is lost or destroyed, players may reclaim this item from Ivan Strom in Old Man Ral's house in Meiyerditch.

It has six chapters which provide 15,000 experience each. After confirming, the player receives the message "You read a fascinating chapter and earn experience! You have been awarded 15,000 (skill) experience!" After the sixth reading, the book disappears and the player receives the message "The book crumbles into a dust cloud of knowledge."
