Twilight Emissaries
The Twilight Emissaries are a religious cult obsessed with the end of the world. Though their beliefs are not part of the official religion of Losanium, they are driven by an unapproved interpretation of the concept of Ximoua, which they call "Tsak Tauli" or "the Final Dawn".[1] Their belief is not simply that the world will end, but that they must actively work to bring about this end themselves.[2]
They are involved with Twilight's Promise. Metzli gives the player information about their beliefs. Then, several cultists launch an attack on the Teomat, wounding Servius. Additionally, during this quest it is heavily implied that they were responsible for the attempt on Servius's life during Children of the Sun, and that their current plans centre around his death.[3]
During The Heart of Darkness, the player and Prince Itzla join the Emissaries while undercover in order to find hard evidence implicating them for the assassination attempt on Servius. During their initiation ceremony, it is revealed that Metzli is the current Augur, or leader,[4] of the Emissaries. Additionally, Metzli claims that Ennius and Furia Tullus are the human reincarnations of Ralos and Ranul, respectively.[5] When the player and Itzla descend into the Ruins of Tapoyauik, where Metzli went to seek information about enacting Tsak Tauli,[6] they find the frost nagua Amoxliatl. Metzli, Ennius, and Furia soon follow them, with the former teleporting Itzla to an unknown location.
The cult is currently looking to bring Ennius and Furia Tullus to Mokhaiotl,[7] which is somewhere in the Tlati Rainforest.[8]
