This article lists the major account builds.

Main accounts

Strength 99 Defence 99
Ranged 99 Prayer 99
Magic 99 Combat level 126
Combat skills of a maxed main account

Main accounts (or mains) are the primary accounts with no skill or quest restrictions. They are typically trained in all skills, which allows them to reach the highest combat and total levels among all build types. Mains can achieve up to 126 combat level, as well as 2,277 total level in all skills.

Ironmen

Ironmen use the in-game Ironman Mode which restricts them from trading other players. This makes obtaining certain items extremely difficult due to their rarity. However, they can follow any type of account, and reach the maximum combat and total levels like main accounts.

Additional game modes include ultimate and hardcore. Ultimate ironmen cannot use banks, and hardcore ironmen lose their status after the first non-safe death.

It is worth noting that ironmen do not receive combat experience when attacking other players, except for basic magic experience gained from casting spells. Additional magic and hitpoints experience from dealing damage with combat spells is not received. The lack of experience gains allows them to create optimised combat pure accounts that never level up through player-versus-player activities. In particular, it is possible to create low hitpoints ironman builds that optimise damage output within given combat level range. Although ironmen cannot pick up loot, they can collect and destroy or transfer loot keys.

Combat pures

Combat pures are accounts optimized for player-versus-player combat and related activities. They typically restrict certain combat skills such as Defence, Prayer, or Attack to maximize their damage output within their respective combat level brackets. While their combat skills can negatively impact their efficiency in PvM activities, in general they are more effective in PvP activities than regular accounts at comparable levels.

Example combat pure builds

One-defence pure

One-defence pure

Strength 99 Defence 1
Ranged 99 Prayer 52
Magic 99 Combat level 88

The most well-known form of pure, a one-defence pure is a character designed solely with player-versus-player combat in mind. The idea is to train the account to have high offensive stats and a low Defence level, while maintaining a low overall combat level to give them leverage over most accounts of a similar combat level. The levels of these accounts vary wildly, though many are within the 50-90 combat level range.

Obsidian pure

Obsidian mauler
Attack 1 Hitpoints 99
Strength 99 Defence 1
Ranged 67 Prayer 31
Magic 67 Combat level 61

An Obsidian pure (also called an "obby mauler", "mauler" or "strength pure") utilises weapons that only require Strength to wield like the dragon warhammer or obsidian maul (hence the name). This permits the pure to maintain an Attack level of 1, substantially lowering their combat level. These pures usually also have 1 Defence level, but occasional higher Defence variants do exist. In particular, getting 60 Strength along with 60 Defence level is considerable due to the obsidian armour, which improves the accuracy and damage of the obsidian maul. While they can use accurate ranged attacks in combat to set up combos, these pures can easily overlevel the Ranged skill, making their combat level Ranged-based. This is due to the fact that Ranged can only be trained up to roughly ⅔ of the sum of Attack and Strength, which means that even with 1 Attack and 99 Strength, the Ranged skill can only be trained to 67 without affecting the overall combat level.

In the free-to-play worlds, strength pures can use rune warhammers to perform knockout attacks. 3-tick melee weapons such as the goblin paint cannon are also available, allowing to deal consistent damage and set up combos.

Defence pure

Defence pure
Attack 1 Hitpoints 66
Strength 1 Defence 75
Ranged 1 Prayer 1
Magic 1 Combat level 35

A Defence pure is an account that maintains a low combat level but has an extremely high Defence level in place of high Attack or Strength levels. However, since others have a large window of opportunity to escape from Defence pures due to their weak attacks and are also generally annoyed by the pure's high Defence, Defence pures are seldom considered viable for player killing. The combo used to slay opponents in PvP combat often included the use of the Dragonfire shield's special attack along with poison. Historically, these pures also relied on venom damage from the Serpentine helm until its associated mechanics were changed.

13 Defence pure

Low defence pure
Attack 75 Hitpoints 99
Strength 99 Defence 13
Ranged 99 Prayer 52
Magic 99 Combat level 91

The 13 Defence pure sacrifices a small amount of offence for slightly more effective defensive gear. They gain access to items and utilities such as fairy rings, slayer helmet and certain diary rewards. However, the Defence levels on these accounts are not due to training, but are instead usually a consequence of the 2,000 Defence experience gained from completing Nature Spirit. This quest is a requirement for the Fairytale II quest (which unlocks the Fairy ring transportation system) and for a subquest of Recipe for Disaster. Completion of this subquest provides access to adamant gloves, which provide slightly better bonuses than the combat bracelet.

Initiate pure

Having 20 Defence, an initiate pure utilises the Prayer and Defence bonuses of initiate armour. Their armour gives a noticeable Defence boost and allows for more efficient use of prayers during combat, which also happens to make training more convenient. Their combat levels are usually higher than those of their 1 Defence counterparts. Initiate pures also benefit from their ability to equip armour with considerable magic bonuses, such as mystic robes and enchanted robes.

Clan pure

Clan pure
Attack 99 Hitpoints 99
Strength 99 Defence 25
Ranged 99 Prayer 99
Magic 99 Combat level 107

A clan pure is an account that is specifically created for multicombat PvP battles between pure clans. Since pure clans typically allow up to 25 Defence, these accounts range from 1-25 Defence. 25 Defence unlocks infinity robes and frog-leather armour in addition to items available to the 20 Defence pures. Instead of limiting their Attack and Prayer levels like most other pures do, clanning pures often aim to max out all combat skills including Attack and Prayer for the largest possible advantage against other pures. While these accounts cannot use prayers such as Piety due to the 70 Defence requirement, having a high Prayer level allows the players to stay alive longer in free-to-play wars and be more resilient against Smite.

Rune pure

Rune pure
Attack 60 Hitpoints 99
Strength 99 Defence 40
Ranged 99 Prayer 44
Magic 99 Combat level 91

A rune pure is a pure that has 40 Defence to wear the rune armour and other equipment with offensive bonuses such as fighter torsos, rune defenders, or d'hide bodies of various tiers. 40 Defence is also one of the requirements for completing the Lunar Diplomacy quest, which unlocks access to the Vengeance spell. Rune pures are also extremely popular in free-to-play PvP, as they can use the highest available armour tier while remaining as low of combat as possible. However, free-to-play rune pures often also have Attack capped off at level 40 for rune weapons, making their combat level even lower. Many rune pures are within the combat level range of 70 to 100.

Berserker pure

Berserker
Attack 60 Hitpoints 99
Strength 99 Defence 45
Ranged 99 Prayer 55
Magic 99 Combat level 94

A berserker pure (also called a "zerker" or "zerk") is near identical to a rune pure except for the 45 Defence allowing to wear a berserker helm or a fighter hat, which give better stat bonuses than the rune full helm. They also have the ability to complete all subquests of Recipe for Disaster, which allows the players to get Barrows gloves, some of the best gloves in RuneScape. Their other combat skills levels are virtually identical to those of rune pures.

Void pure

Void pure
Attack 42 Hitpoints 99
Strength 42 Defence 42
Ranged 99 Prayer 55
Magic 99 Combat level 90

A void pure is a pure that utilises the combat bonuses of the Void Knight armour to achieve considerable maximum hits. Void pures are most often Ranged-oriented due to the already high damage output of weapons such as the rune crossbow, magic shortbow, dragon knifes, or heavy ballista coupled with the damage and accuracy boosts of the armour. Melee-based and Magic-based void pures are less common.

Another benefit to this style of pure lies in its ability to risk very little wealth in comparison to many other pures. Void knight armour is untradeable; rune kiteshields can be made untradeable through the use of Construction and Crafting (heraldic kiteshields, also called painted kiteshields). While their Defence is similar to those of rune or berserker pures, they usually have lesser Melee levels, making their combat levels slightly lower. Many Void pures are within the combat level range of 70 to 100.

Magic pure

Magic pure
Attack 75 Hitpoints 70
Strength 40 Defence 1
Ranged 1 Prayer 1
Magic 99 Combat level 65

A magic pure is typically a one-defence pure that specialises almost exclusively in Magic. This type of pure is extremely strong at low-level PvP because of the fixed max damage that most spells deal regardless of one's Magic level, as well as the ability to easily train Magic without gaining Hitpoints experience. Most commonly, pures of this nature will use Ancient Magicks or the Flames of Zamorak spell with a Toxic staff of the dead, although some opt to use the Slayer Dart spell instead. Being more effective at lower levels, these accounts are often within the combat level range of 40 to 60.

Range tank

Range tank
Attack 75 Hitpoints 99
Strength 70 Defence 99
Ranged 99 Prayer 99
Magic 99 Combat level 109

A range tank is a character with high Ranged and Defence levels. Their Defence allows them to participate in high level PvP, wearing Barrows items or Void Knight equipment, and utilising Ranged attacks with utility spells and prayers such as Vengeance and Rigour. Their Attack and Strength levels are usually low. The levels of these accounts vary somewhat, most being in the combat level range of 70 to 109.

Piety pure

Piety pure
Attack 75 Hitpoints 99
Strength 99 Defence 70
Ranged 99 Prayer 70
Magic 99 Combat level 107

A Piety pure, is an account that has 70 Defence mainly for Barrows equipment, such as Dharok's, and ideally 70 Prayer for the ability to use Piety. This is combined with overall high Attack and Strength for maximum damage. Combat level is generally not monitored as seriously, and it is common for these accounts to max out everything but Defence and Prayer. At least 94 Magic is necessary as it allows use of the Vengeance spell, while Ranged is rarely put to use outside of team PvP activities or PvM situations. These accounts are almost always within the combat level range of 100 to 120.

Granite maul pure

Granite mauler
Attack 50 Hitpoints 99
Strength 99 Defence 1
Ranged 99 Prayer 31
Magic 99 Combat level 77

A granite maul pure (also called a "gmauler") utilises the granite maul, a weapon that requires both 50 Attack and 50 Strength to wield. These pures commonly have 1 Defence level and use Ranged attacks to deal consistent damage.

Free-to-play combat pures

Free-to-play combat pures are accounts built specifically for free-to-play PvP activities. They tend to stop at 40 Attack level to unlock the rune weapons, although strength pures with lower Attack levels are also viable, as they can deal considerable damage with the rune warhammer. Without the possibility to use Smite on free-to-play worlds, common Prayer levels include 13 for Superhuman Strength, 31 for Ultimate Strength, or 44 for Eagle Eye and the protection prayers. Outside of 1 Defence level builds, 40 is also common for rune armour and green d'hide body. At least 30 Defence level is required to wear gold decorative boots offering a small strength bonus necessary to maximize damage with all melee weapons.

Some common free-to-play builds include:

Skillers

Skiller
Attack 1 Hitpoints 10
Strength 1 Defence 1
Ranged 1 Prayer 1
Magic 1 Combat level 3
Skillers tend not to train any combat skills

Skillers train only non-combat skills. They tend not to train combat skills such as Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged, Magic, Hitpoints, or Prayer, and might find it difficult to train Slayer. They cannot finish most quests and Achievement Diaries due to the combat experience rewards, or the quest requirements. Although they cannot engage in typical player-versus-player combat, they can still participate in some minigames like the Last Man Standing or Castle Wars. Skillers can achieve up to 1,600 total level.

Prayer pure

Prayer pure
Attack 1 Hitpoints 10
Strength 1 Defence 1
Ranged 1 Prayer 99
Magic 1 Combat level 15
A skiller with a maxed Prayer level

Some skillers choose to train Prayer additionally to non-combat skills. In contrary to classic skillers, they can finish some quests that grant Prayer experience like the Restless Ghost. The access to the protection prayers also allows them to safely enter areas with aggressive NPCs. Access to Retribution also gives them a niche but consistent way of dealing damage. Prayer pures can achieve up to 15 combat level and 1,698 total level.

Combat only pure

Combat only pure
Attack 99 Hitpoints 99
Strength 99 Defence 99
Ranged 99 Prayer 99
Magic 99 Combat level 126
A reverse skiller with maxed combat skills

The inverse of a traditional skiller, a combat only pure only develops the combat skills, as well as the Slayer skill. Combat pures keep their non-combat skills at level 1, including all of the gathering and processing skills. Similarly to other restricted accounts, they cannot finish most quests and Achievement Diaries due to the skilling experience rewards, or the necessary requirements. Combat only pures in the Ironman Mode also have severely limited options when it comes to the equipment, as non-combat skills are required to obtain a wide range of items.

Unlike the combat pures designed for PvP, combat only pures are often ironmen created with a focus on PvM as trophy accounts. They might be also impose further limitations for an additional challenge, such as a limited Defence or Prayer level. Combat only pures are able to achieve the maximum combat level of 126, as well as the 807 total level.

Snowflake accounts

"Snowflake" accounts are accounts with additional self-imposed rules or restrictions beyond the game mode they select. While typically also created as ironmen, snowflake accounts can also be restricted in their use of items or core game functions, much like skillers or pures, but can also be locked to specific areas of the game.

Area locked

Area-locked accounts are accounts restricted to a specific part of the game, typically a major city or area such as Zeah or the Wilderness. Because area restrictions often deny players traditional methods of training, area-locked accounts require unique or uncommon methods to level up skills. Sometimes, small exceptions are made to make area-locked accounts playable or to keep content from being blocked, such as completing Druidic Ritual to allow players to train Herblore.

Chunk locked

Chunk-locked accounts use the World Map's division into "chunks," or 64x64 game square sections, to determine progression and goals. Typically, chunk-locked accounts must complete all skilling "tasks" in their chunk to unlock another one; for example, a player starting in the Lumbridge chunk would need to chop the yew tree before selecting a new chunk to advance to.

Mechanic locked

Mechanic locked accounts may take many forms. This may include restriction of movement such as tileman accounts, restrictions on damage such as nightmare accounts, restrictions on usage of game mechanics, inventory restrictions, bronzeman modes, spell book restrictions, accounts without prayer access or player-owned house access.

One Skill At A Time

The player achieves level 99 (or 200 million experience) in one chosen skill before being allowed to move on to another. While leveling a chosen skill, any previously maxed skills are free to utilize and receiving experience past level 99 does not mean the restrictions have been broken.

This challenge can make progressing the account extremely time-consuming, especially if played as an Ironman, as many of the most efficient skilling methods require levels in multiple skills. The order of the chosen skills are therefore pivotal to how fast an OSAAT Ironman account can progress. For example, achieving level 99 Firemaking Firemaking would reasonably entail first reaching level 99 Woodcutting Woodcutting in order to be able to obtain logs for lighting fires, or for chopping bruma roots at the Wintertodt.

Leveling most combat skills on an OSAAT account introduces another challenge as it's tough to gain reliable experience in Attack Attack, Strength Strength, Defence Defence, and Ranged Ranged without also gaining Hitpoints Hitpoints experience. Prayer Prayer experience will also be extremely difficult to come by due to this. Magic Magic experience can be obtained through the use of non-damaging spells or splashing.

Free-to-play accounts

Some players choose to restrict themselves to the free-to-play worlds, without the possibility to train any skills in the members' worlds. This can be combined with other forms of restrictions or builds, further limiting the accounts.
