The Ancient Guthixian Temple is an ancient temple devoted to Guthix that was primarily built to house the Stone of Jas. The druids who built the temple created a complex system that was meant to keep intruders out. Found at the bottom of the Chasm of Tears, it is accessed by attracting a light creature with a sapphire lantern to ride down into the chasm. The player must then run south and climb up two stone walls to reach the entrance. Alternatively, players can teleport to the temple with an Guthixian temple teleport.
During the events of While Guthix Sleeps, the whereabouts of the Stone of Jas are discovered to be at the bottom of the Chasm of Tears. The player, pretending to be Surok Magis in order to get past Movario and Darve, opens a huge door within the temple to reach the Stone of Jas. The Stone was protected by the Balance Elemental, a Guardian created by Guthix, and remained there since the end of the God Wars until it was stolen by Lucien, a Mahjarrat who also possesses the Staff of Armadyl.
Combat mechanics
After the quest, players can return to the temple and fight tormented demons that have since spread across the temple grounds. While the entire temple is considered a single-way combat zone by the game, the temple is a unique outlier in the fact that some areas are pseudo-multicombat areas. While in the temple, an icon that depicts a tormented demon's head can be seen in the user interface, indicating the amount of demons the player can attack at one time, either one, two, or three.
The north-western section of the dungeon (each containing a single demon) and the inner chamber where the Stone of Jas was once held is a proper single-way combat zone. The east and north-eastern sections of the dungeon is a doubles zone, and the south-western section of the dungeon is a triples zone.

Historical
The temple was released alongside While Guthix Sleeps. Compared to its RuneScape counterpart:
- In RuneScape, there were only six tormented demon spawns, all of which were near the plinth where the Stone of Jas once was. In Old School RuneScape, there are significantly more demon spawns spread across the temple; two by the door, seven by the plinth, eight to the western off-shoots and another eight to the eastern off-shoots.
- There are no safespots to trap demons in, as the demons have advanced pathing to bypass such attempts.
- The area around the Stone of Jas was significantly altered; a small outcrop to the north-west, present in the main game, is removed in Old School. The other outcrop to the north-east is also blocked off by stone braziers. There are numerous stone braziers placed across the open area, likely to prevent demons from wandering over or getting lured by players to the other side. The outcrop to the south-west is also closed off to its east.
- Despite this, the former outcrop to the north somewhat exists; attacks can be made over it, though both the demons and players will path around the open area as if it was not there.

- A brazier can be found in the dolmen room, which would act as a stamina potion during the quest. After the quest, the brazier is extinguished, likely due to the Stone of Jas no longer powering it.
- The temple entrance has an additional cavity to the side, albeit collapsed, implying it was how people came into the temple to construct it. In RuneScape, this cavity is not present.
