Gielinor (Jagex: /ˈɡɪ.lə.nɔːr/ GILL-in-or) more commonly known as RuneScape, is the fictional world in which the eponymous game takes place, discovered and given its name by Guthix.[1] Gielinor's mainland comprises the Misthalin, Asgarnia, Kandarin and Morytania kingdoms, the Kharidian Desert, the Wilderness, the south-western ogre lands of the Feldip Hills, the hidden elven lands of Tirannwn, and the northern Fremennik Province and Troll Country.
South of the mainland kingdoms of Asgarnia and Kandarin lies the tropical island of Karamja, located on which are the towns of Brimhaven in the north and Shilo Village in the south, Musa Point to the north-east, and The Kharazi Jungle in the far south. Other notable islands include Ape Atoll, Fossil Island, Crandor, Tutorial Island, and Tempoross Cove.
Far west of the mainland is the continent of Zeah, which comprises the Great Kourend and Varlamore kingdoms, and the Kebos Lowlands, which have a comparably long history.
Other regions such as the Eastern Lands, Acheron and the penguin Motherland are known to exist, but inaccessible.
Creation
In the First Age the god Guthix discovered the world of Gielinor.[2] He would then travel to Tarddiad to invite Seren to this newly discovered world, one that Guthix had deemed perfect, and together they would terraform the planet and bring many races through the World Gate to Gielinor.[3][4][5][6]
Trivia
