The progress hat is a magical, talking hat used to keep track of the player's pizazz points obtained from the Mage Training Arena. If lost, another one can be obtained for free from the Entrance Guardian.

The player can talk to the hat to check the number of points they have in each activity. It replies with a grumpy attitude but will tell the player anyway. The hat has a maximum point storage limit, as follows:

  • 8,000 Graveyard Pizazz Points
  • 8,000 Telekinetic Pizazz Points
  • 16,000 Alchemist Pizazz Points
  • 32,000 Enchantment Pizazz Points

Appearance

The hat will glow brighter, corresponding to pizazz points gained. There are three states: dull, energised, and full. The hat is "energised" when it contains at least 300 of each of the four types of pizazz points, and "full" at 600, though the maximum capacity is far higher.

After passing a pizazz point threshold by spending points, attempting to wear the hat will display the message The hat shifts unexpectedly. The inventory icon will downgrade to the "energised" or "dull" state, and the hat can be worn again.

Oddly, in spite of being a magical, talking hat, it provides no stat bonuses.

Trivia

  • The progress hat may be a reference to the talking Sorting Hat from the Harry Potter series.
  • Prior to an update on 16 November 2017, destroying the progress hat meant that the player lost all their pizazz points.
  • There is an NPC version of the Progress hat called Pizazz Hat which is used to render the hat's chathead in the dialogue box. Although Pizazz Hat cannot be seen directly in-game, it has the appearance of a headless Maze Guardian.
  • Prior to an update on 8 May 2024, the hat was required to participate in the Mage Training Arena activity.
