Rune Essence is a rock that is mined to gather rune essence. There are no requirements to mine the rocks, however, in members worlds, players with at least 30 Mining will instead mine pure essence. Free players may mine rune essence in the rune essence mine, unlocked after completing the Rune Mysteries quest. To reach these mines, players need to be teleported by one of several NPCs. Each essence gives 5 Mining experience. The rocks have an unlimited supply of essence and never deplete. A pickaxe is needed to mine essence from the rock. The speed at which you mine rune essence is only dependent on the pickaxe you use and not the mining level.
