Unidentified minerals are rare minerals obtained by mining rocks in the members' area of the Mining Guild. They can be traded in for mining gloves, superior mining gloves, soft clay packs, and bags full of gems at Belona's Mining Guild Mineral Exchange. Players can also pay 40 minerals to combine both gloves into a pair of expert mining gloves.
The infernal pickaxe's ore-consuming effect will NOT negate the ability to receive unidentified minerals upon activation.
At current Grand Exchange prices, the item that is worth the most coins per mineral spent is a Expression error: Unexpected / operator. per unidentified mineral.
Obtaining
The chances of obtaining one are dependent on the rock they are obtained from:[1]
Rock | Chance |
---|---|
Iron rocks | 1/100 |
Coal rocks | 1/60 |
Mithril rocks | 1/40 |
Adamantite rocks | 1/30 |
Runite rocks | 1/20 |
Amethyst crystals | 1/20 |
Additional resources granted by mining enhancers do not provide extra unidentified minerals when their effects are triggered.[2] Mining gloves, however, do assist in finding minerals, albeit indirectly: as minerals can be obtained whenever ore is successfully mined, the additional harvest opportunities granted by the gloves also serve to provide additional chances to find minerals from a given rock before it depletes, reducing both the click-intensity of mining as well as the amount of time spent moving between rocks.
Power-mining iron rocks is the fastest but most click-intensive method of gathering unidentified minerals. The ore can either be banked or dropped, although mining the 3 rocks closest to the bank and depositing the ore is the least tedious option. Wearing any tier of mining gloves will improve the collection process, and additionally increase rates if not used at a 3-rock spot.
A slower but a less click-intensive method is mining coal rocks. If the coal is being banked, a coal bag can be used to hold an additional 27 coal (36 if a Smithing cape is equipped). Wearing any tier of mining gloves will increase rates due to spending less time moving between rocks.
Unidentified minerals obtained while your inventory is full will drop to the floor.
You can also stop receiving unidentified minerals by using the right-click option on Belona, or speaking to her and choosing the "I don't want to receive minerals." option. You can start receiving them by talking to her again and choosing the "I would like to receive minerals." option.
Exchanging
At current values based on the price of soft clay, each unidentified minerals is worth 1,090.00. Likewise, based on the average value of bags full of gems, each unidentified minerals is worth Lua error: ..
In addition to the actual shop stock, you can also speak with Belona to exchange a pair of mining gloves, a pair of superior mining gloves, and 40 unidentified minerals for a pair of expert mining gloves.
