Granite is a rock mined from granite rocks at the Bandit Camp Quarry south of the Bandit Camp in the Kharidian Desert. In this quarry, as elsewhere in the desert, desert heat will continually reduce the player's Hitpoints unless the player has waterskins in inventory or is wearing either a charged circlet of water or the desert amulet 4. The combination of Hitpoints cape and regen bracelet can also outheal the damage taken when wearing heat-protective gear, including a prospector kit. Varrock armour 2 or higher is recommended, as the chance to mine double ores works on granite.
A piece of granite (any size) is required in the quest King's Ransom, and two 5kg pieces of granite are required in the quest Enakhra's Lament. In a player-owned house, five pieces of Granite (5kg) can be used to upgrade an outdoor menagerie to a volcanic habitat, or two pieces of Granite (5kg) can be used to build a volcanic theme in a superior garden. A piece of granite (any size) can be used to recolour the mining pet, Rock Golem.
A camulet provides a nearby teleport with the completion of hard Desert Diary. Alternatives include Pharaoh's sceptre's teleport to Jaldraocht, boarding a ferry at south Al Kharid Bank to the Ruins of Unkah or magic carpets.
A player must have Mining level of 45 or greater to mine granite, which yields the following experience shown below depending on the size the granite block mined.
In Trailblazer League, a 2 kg block could be purchased from Trader Stan's Trading Post in Port Khazard and Catherby. This was to allow players to complete King's Ransom without the need to unlock the Kharidian Desert.

Mining granite provides the fastest Mining experience obtainable. When using tick manipulation to mine only granite, the rates can reach over 116,000 experience per hour at level 70 and up to 132,000 experience per hour at level 99. This is the fastest Mining experience obtainable as soon as reaching level 45, but it is considerably more difficult than other methods due to the click intensity and accuracy involved. Without tick manipulation, the rates are around 48,000 experience per hour at level 70 and 60,000 experience per hour at level 99.
Granite can be mined alongside Sandstone, decreasing the amount you have to move to mine the rocks, for roughly 70,000 experience per hour at 80+ and up to 93,750 at 99.
