The dense essence mine is located north-east of Arceuus. Overseen by Clerris, the mine contains two dense runestones, where players can mine dense essence blocks, which are then used on the Dark Altar to create dark essence blocks. It is not possible to get a rock golem pet from mining here.

In order to use this mine, players require level 38 Mining and 38 Crafting. A pickaxe and chisel in the player's inventory is required to mine the dense runestone, granting 12 Mining and 8 Crafting experience per block mined.

After completion of the medium tasks in the Kourend & Kebos Diary, players have a chance to mine two dense essence blocks at once. No additional experience is awarded for the extra block.

While only 38 Mining is required to mine the essence, a higher Mining level is slightly helpful, as the essence stone depletes less frequently with a higher Mining level. At level 38 Mining there is a 85% chance to not deplete the dense runestone when successfully mining a dense essence block, increasing to 90% at level 99.

In order to use the shortcuts leading to and from the mine, players need to have 73 Agility for the western rock scramble, 69 for the northern scramble and 52 for the eastern scramble. A boulder a little further to the north-east meanwhile requires 49 Agility to jump over.
