Magic pyre logs may be used during the Shades of Mort'ton minigame to cremate the remains of Loar, Phrin, Riyl, Asyn, and Fiyr shades. They require level 80 Firemaking to light and grant 404.5 Firemaking experience when used to cremate a shade (606.7 with Morytania Diary 4 complete).

Preparation

To make Magic pyre logs, players must first obtain some sacred olive oil to use on your Magic logs. Sacred oil may be made during the Shades of Mort'ton minigame or the Shades of Mort'ton quest. To create the oil, players need to purchase normal olive oil from Razmire Keelgan's store in Mort'ton and then help to restore the temple that lies to the north of the town. This is best done on the Temple Building world - World 377. There are generally plenty of other players at the temple on this world, and it is fairly easy to rebuild the temple. An important thing to remember is to bring building resources with you each time. Bring them in the ratio of 1:1:5 (e.g., bring 3 limestone bricks, 3 timber beams, and 15 swamp paste). The resources are taken from your inventory as needed and added to the general pool of resources (shown in the upper right corner as a percentage). As you add resources and build/repair the temple, you gain sanctity (again, shown in the upper right corner). You must have at least 10 sanctity to convert 1 oil or to light the sacred flame. Once the temple is rebuilt, players may light the altar in the centre of the temple and use their olive oil on the fire. This converts the ordinary olive oil into sacred oil.

Once the sacred oil has been obtained players will need to use four doses of it on one magic logs. These logs will then become one magic pyre logs and the player will be granted 20 Firemaking experience.

Players may use the pyre logs, along with a set of shade remains (Loar, Phrin, Riyl, Asyn or Fiyr), on one of the numerous funeral pyres located to the south and to the west of Mort'ton's centre. The pyre can then be lit using a tinderbox, which releases the shade and rewards Firemaking and Prayer experience, as well as some coins or a key. The type of key rewarded solely depends on the type of remains that are cremated, and do not depend on the logs used.

(update)

Adjusted the Firemaking XP of making Pyre Logs to be a flat 5 XP per dose of Sacred Oil consumed, instead of a variable rate based on how many doses are in the vial.

This increased the experience gained from creating the logs from 16 to 20 experience.
