The scorching bow is a demonbane weapon requiring level 77 Ranged to wield. It is made from combining a magic longbow (u) with a tormented synapse, requiring level 74 Fletching (can be boosted) to create after reading Duradel's notes.

The bow, able to fire arrows up to dragon arrows, has a 30% accuracy and damage bonus against demonic creatures. Similarly to the dragon hunter crossbow, the damage bonus is applied additively with the 15% damage boost from a slayer helmet (i) or black mask (i), resulting in a total damage boost of 45%.

Though the process to create the scorching bow cannot be reversed, a player killer will receive the tormented synapse from their opponent if it is not one of their protected items. If using this method to trade the synapse between players in an Ironman Group, ensure Loot keys are disabled, otherwise the item will not be reclaimable.

The scorching bow cannot be used to light a fire with Barbarian Firemaking.

The scorching bow has a special attack, Scorching shackles, which drains 25% of the player's special attack energy.

Scorching shackles increases accuracy by 30%, binding demons for 20 ticks (12 seconds) and dealing 1 burn damage in the process. It deals an additional 1 burn damage every 4 ticks (2.4 seconds), for a total of 5 burn damage.

Against non-demonic creatures, attempting to use the special attack results in the message Scorching shackles won't work against a non-demon enemy.
