The Spiked manacles are a rare reward obtained from medium Treasure Trails. It has the best-in-slot strength bonus for footwear that has no requirements to equip. It has equivalent strength bonus to Dragon boots and is only surpassed by Primordial boots, though without any of the defensive bonuses.

In comparison to Climbing boots, which also have no Defence requirement to equip, Spiked manacles have +2 higher strength bonus. However, Spiked manacles have some negative bonuses whereas the Climbing boots have none, and Climbing boots also offer +2 Slash and +2 Crush melee defence bonuses. Due to the penalties and no additional bonuses, they are superseded by Aranea boots for accounts with Defence restrictions.
