Fighting boots are a pair of low level boots with stats identical to bronze boots (except weighing significantly less), fancy boots and fancier boots. They are obtained from the Cradle of Life on the fourth level of the Stronghold of Security dungeon provided the player's account has two-factor authentication enabled. They are used by new or free-to-play players, as the centre of each level rewards a combined total of 10,000 coins along with the choice between fancy boots, fighting boots or fancier boots (at the fourth and final level).

Upon death below the 20 level of the Wilderness, the boots are sent to the gravestone. Otherwise they are deleted. When lost, they can be reclaimed for free from the Cradle of Life. Multiple pairs can be claimed and owned at the same time.

They used to be the best melee boots in free-to-play, but have since been surpassed by all of the Castle Wars decorative boots, especially the decorative boots (gold) due to their Strength bonus. The high requirement of 400 castle wars tickets causes the fighting boots to still be popular, due to its nonexistent cost.

This item can be stored in the armour case of a costume room.

Fighting boots are no longer destroyed, but rather dropped. Players may now own both fighting boots and fancy boots. Players who have a Jagex Account can now combine fighting boots with fancy boots to obtain fancier boots. Fighting boots can now be stored in the armour case space of the costume room in a player-owned house.
