Zombified Spawns are creatures which appear during the fight with Vorkath. During the fight, Vorkath will occasionally freeze the player and summon a Zombified Spawn. Vorkath becomes immune to damage during this. The spawn makes its way towards the player, and if it reaches them, it will explode and deal up to 60 damage (30 during Dragon Slayer II). It can be killed before this to negate any damage. In either scenario, the player will become unfrozen after the spawn dies and may continue attacking Vorkath.

Since this spawn deals a lot of damage, it is recommended to cast Crumble Undead on the spawn, as it is guaranteed to instantly kill it. If the player has a very low Magic attack bonus (-64 or lower), there is a chance the cast will splash and deal no damage; it is recommended to have -63 or higher as it becomes extremely unlikely to miss.

If the explosion occurs, it will deal damage based on how many hitpoints the spawn had left upon explosion; because of this, a risky but alternative method to killing Vorkath is to manually kill the spawn with either a blowpipe or trident, since even if the player fails to kill the spawn, it will usually be damaged enough to make the explosion damage negligible. When ranging, this can be used as a fallback should the player misclick on the Crumble Undead cast without having time to attempt another.

It is recommended to click away from Vorkath or do an action that interrupts attacking (such as eating) when it freezes the player, as otherwise the player will continue attacking it, which may cause a crucial delay before being able to attack the spawn and allow it to come close enough to explode.

If Vorkath dies after sending out the spawn (by being hit by an attack that was cast before freezing the player), the spawn will not die and continues approaching the player. However, upon reaching them, it will die without dealing any damage. In addition, the player is unfrozen when Vorkath dies and they can simply walk or run away from the Spawn. This can be useful when seeking to complete the Zombie Destroyer Combat Achievement.
