The dragon impling jar is the result of successfully catching a dragon impling, requiring level 83 Hunter. The dragon impling is second only to the Lucky impling as the rarest and most difficult to catch impling in Impetuous Impulses.
As can be done with all impling jars, the dragon impling jar can be traded in singularly to Elnock Inquisitor for three empty impling jars. This is not recommended, due to the fact that dragon impling jars are worth vastly more than three empty jars.
The market value of dragon impling jars is considerably more than all but a few of the possible loot items from it, notably dragon darts or dragon dart tips. Their price is high due to the chance of said expensive items, the rarity of the dragon impling itself, as well as players opening dragon impling jars for elite clue scrolls. Clue hunters will buy implings in bulk for the ability to obtain clues faster than any other method in the game for a high cost. You can't take dragon impling jars onto Entrana, as looting them may give you weapons.
Loot
At current Grand Exchange prices, opening a dragon impling jar gives 161,213 coins worth of loot, on average. This means opening dragon impling jars makes an average profit of −374,859 coins per jar, however this does not include loot from clue scrolls.
On average, one would profit −18,742,959 coins to get an elite clue scroll from dragon impling jars at current Grand Exchange prices, excluding the rewards from the completed Treasure Trails.
The following drop rates are provided by Jagex, unless otherwise specified.
