Escape crystals are a consumable teleport item that can be equipped in the ring slot. It can be purchased from Rick in the 1^st floor^[UK]2^nd floor^[US] of the Wizards' Tower, as well as from the Mysterious Stranger in Ver Sinhaza, for 75,000 coins.

The crystal acts similarly to a respawn teleport, teleporting players away from various activities in which Hardcore ironmen/group ironmen may consider as dangerous upon death:

• Barbarian Assault
• Chambers of Xeric
• The Inferno
• Pest Control
• Theatre of Blood
• TzHaar-Ket-Rak's Challenges
• Tombs of Amascut

Players can also use the crystal on their group members to activate them, allowing teleportation of teammates out of danger in an instant. To enable this, players must right-click the crystal and select "Configure", then choose the first option. Both players must have a crystal for this to work, and both crystals will be consumed in the process.

Additionally, the crystal can be configured to auto-activate upon taking damage (including zeros) after a specified time of inactivity (ranging from 2 to 300 seconds) via the "Configure" option; in this case, inactivity is defined as any time the player is not typing, clicking/tapping within the game, moving/zooming the camera, or moving the mouse. For example, if players configure the timer to 30 seconds, they will automatically be teleported away from the aforementioned activities upon taking damage after being inactive for at least 30 seconds. This function will apply in The Gauntlet if the crystal was in the player's inventory upon entry, and is configured to auto-activate.

The crystal will NOT activate while the player is moving. If the inactive time is reached at any point during movement, the crystal will activate when the player stops moving.

The crystal can also be equipped and toggled to act in the same manner as a ring of life, although this will cause the crystal to be unable to teleport out from the aforementioned activities, so players must have it unequipped should they wish to be able to do so in those activities.

Furthermore when engaging in wilderness content the teleport function will work up to level 30, putting it in the same category as the royal seed pod and dragonstone jewelry.
