Poison karambwan is a type of untradeable food that damages the player for 5 poison damage. It can be obtained by cooking raw karambwan, granting 80 experience when successful. Prior to completing Tai Bwo Wannai Trio and speaking to Tinsay, poison karambwan will always be made when successfully cooking raw karambwan. After this event, raw karambwan can be made into either poison karambwan or into cooked karambwan, which heals for 18 Hitpoints. When cooking there is a chance to fail, resulting in burnt karambwan. The burn rate decreases as the player's Cooking level increases, and it will stop burning entirely at Cooking level 99 on both ranges and fires.
Poison karambwan will only damage you if you have at least 5 Hitpoints. It is unusual in that it only damages the player once, unlike most other poison.
Poison karambwan can be used with a pestle and mortar, to create karambwan paste which can be used to poison spears and hastae.
Eating one will give the message You eat the Karambwan., followed by It tastes ... painful.
