The looting bag is a storage bag that can hold up to 28 stacks of any item. Only one looting bag can be in a player's possession at a time.
Tradeable items can only be stored whilst in the Wilderness, including the Ferox Enclave, by using them on the looting bag or via the looting bag's "Deposit" option. Stackable items like runes, arrows or noted items stack in the looting bag as they would in the inventory. The bag may also be used in certain locations outside the Wilderness on PvP worlds. The contents of a looting bag cannot be recovered outside of a bank without destroying it or dying.
Obtaining
The bag can be obtained as a drop from any monster in the Wilderness, excluding aviansie, abyssal demons and Black chinchompas, and cannot be picked up with Telekinetic Grab. NPCs that spawn in the Wilderness while doing Treasure Trails, such as double agents, can also drop the bag.
It can also be purchased from Justine's stuff for the Last Shopper Standing for 1 Last Man Standing point or from any Slayer master's reward shop for 10 Slayer points.
A looting bag note can also be purchased from players, the Grand Exchange, or bought from Justine's stuff for the Last Shopper Standing for 1 Last Man Standing point; this note can be exchanged for a looting bag at any bank.
A looting bag may also be obtained at the Wilderness Agility Course when paying the 150,000 coins fee at the agility dispenser to use the Agility Course, provided the player does not already have one in their inventory or bank.
The drop rate of the looting bag depends on the monster's combat level. Monsters with a combat level of 10 or lower have a 1/15 chance of dropping the bag, while those that are level 50 or higher have a 1/3 chance. The drop rate for monsters with combat levels between those two caps is 1/(150/level).[2][better source needed]
Usage
The Open option on the bag makes every tradeable item picked up go straight into the looting bag whilst players are in the Wilderness, including inside the Ferox Enclave. Once players have looted their desired items, they can use the Close option to have items go into the inventory instead.
When using items on a closed bag, players will be asked how many they wish to store (one, five, or all). Should players wish to have the bag always store as many as possible when using items on it they may adjust to their preference by clicking Settings.
When accessing a bank, players can click on the looting bag to show its contents. Clicking on the items or the "deposit all" function will bank the items. Unbankable items will be moved to the player's inventory instead.[3]
Mechanics
If the player with a looting bag dies to another player, it is always lost upon death, even if the dead player does not have anything else that is prioritised over it. When this happens, the player who killed the person holding the looting bag will get everything inside the bag, excluding food and potions.
Upon destroying a looting bag in the Wilderness, or anywhere in the list below on PvP worlds, all items inside are dropped on the ground and are available for everyone to immediately see. Certain un-noted items such as cooked food, potions, or vials of water will be destroyed in the process. Noted potions, cooked or raw food, or vials of water will be dropped to the floor. When on a non-PvP world, destroying a looting bag outside of the Wilderness including while inside the Ferox Enclave, will cause all items inside to be lost.
The bag is popular for monster hunting, as it allows the player to manage their inventory without having to sacrifice slots that would be occupied by food or potions. While player killers can also benefit from the looting bag, this is mostly obsolete for players with loot keys unlocked, as they do not need to spend time looting from their victims. Items in the looting bag do not contribute to weight, which would otherwise rapidly consume the user's run energy.
The bag can be brought onto Entrana, as long as there are no prohibited items in it.
Ultimate Ironmen
The bag is also used by Ultimate Ironman players as extra storage for items they do not currently need but wish to hold onto, although as they cannot use the bank, the only way for them to get the contents inside is to die, or destroy the bag in the Wilderness and pick up the items. If you're in the wilderness, you must be in a PvP area. Destroying the bag within the first two tiles out from the Edgeville ditch or in the Ferox Enclave will delete your items.
PvP worlds
Following an update on 13 June 2019, the looting bag can be used near some of the common Player Killing hotspots inside PvP worlds. The change does not affect Ultimate Ironman. The areas in which the looting bag will work are shown below:
-
Castle Wars entrance
-
Emir's Arena entrance
