The ring of shadows is a special ring that is obtained as a reward upon completion of Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire. As an upgrade to the ring of visibility, it retains its original effects, as well as having very similar offensive stats to the brimstone ring, making it a decent alternative. It cannot be equipped in the Lassar Undercity.

The ring is charged by using one blood, soul, death, and law rune on the ring and can contain a maximum of 1,000 charges (costing 674,000 to fully charge, or 674 per teleport). When charged, the ring can teleport players to the Ancient Vault; additional teleports to the Ghorrock Dungeon, the Scar, the Lassar Undercity, and the Stranglewood can be unlocked by using tablets received as drops from Duke Sucellus, The Leviathan, The Whisperer, and Vardorvis respectively on the ring. Uncharging the ring does refund the runes.

If lost, another can be obtained from the Mysterious Bandit in the Ancient Vault for 75,000 coins. Multiple rings can be purchased from the bandit.

On death to another player, the ring turns into 75,000 coins regardless of any charges the ring has and regardless of wilderness location.

Uncharging

The ring may only be uncharged if either the player has at least one empty inventory space or the player's inventory contains law runes, death runes, blood runes, and soul runes. If the player does not have enough empty inventory space for all four runes, the runes will be added into the players inventory in the order of soul, blood, death, law. Any runes that are not able to fit into the inventory will be dropped to the ground.

(update)
  • The player may now purchase multiple rings from the Mysterious Bandit.
  • A "Charge" option has been added to the ring to indicate the runes needed.
  • Ghosts from the Hallowed Sepulchre will now properly appear when wearing the ring.

Trivia

  • If the ring is worn while entering the Lassar Undercity, it will be unequipped with the message, "A strange magic rips your ring of shadows from your finger." If the player has no empty inventory spaces, they will be unable to enter the city and receive the message, "As you go to climb down the rope, you feel a strange magic rejecting your ring of shadows." Attempting to equip the ring while in the city will yield the message, "A strange magic prevents you from putting the ring on."
    • Additionally, attempting to teleport there with the ring results in a chatbox message stating "'You will need one free space in your inventory as entering Lassar will unequip your ring.'"
