Tumeken's heka was a proposed powered wand requiring 85 Magic to equip. It belonged to Tumeken, the head of the Menaphite Pantheon, and was given to Pharaoh Osmumten by Elidinis after his sacrifice that ended the Kharidian–Zarosian War. It was only available from the supplies table in an unrestricted world as a test item for players, and was one of the proposed rewards for the Tombs of Amascut raid.

Although Tumeken's heka passed its poll, it was proposed to be replaced by the Shadow of Tumeken in a poll blog two months later, due to continued player feedback on the desire for a magic weapon that would "redefine Magic as a combat style just as the Scythe [of Vitur] and Twisted Bow did." It was then polled in the Tombs of Amascut Reward Changes poll with the caveat that the heka would be replaced with the Shadow of Tumeken if it passed the poll; this came to pass with 90.9% support.

In order to use the wand's magic spell, it must be charged with soul and chaos runes, holding up to 20,000 charges when fully charged. Each cast requires 1 soul rune and 3 chaos runes, costing 479 coins per cast. The total cost to fully charge the wand with 20,000 soul and 60,000 chaos runes is 9,580,000 coins. Players can uncharge the wand whenever and wherever they choose, getting all of their runes back.

Spell mechanics

A player using Tumeken's heka's built in spell.

Like powered staves, Tumeken's heka has a built-in magic spell that can be used regardless of the spellbook the player is using and cannot be used to autocast any other combat spells.

The heka's spell is an attack in which players will attack the target with three fast attacks, followed by a charged attack that deals significantly more damage (alongside a secondary effect dependent on the player's active spellbook), albeit with a longer delay after the attack. The first three fast attacks have an attack speed of two ticks (1.2 seconds), with the fourth charged attack having an attack speed of four ticks (2.4 seconds).

The spell cannot be used against other players in the Wilderness. The only way that the spell can be used against other players is during the Castle Wars, Soul Wars and TzHaar Fight Pit minigames, as well as the Clan Wars minigame if the clan leaders enable it.

Charged attack mechanics

The heka's charged attack also carries with it a secondary effect that is dependent on the player's active spellbook:

Spellbook Effect
The heka's charged attack will have its damage increased by 10%.
The heka's charged attack will strike in a 3x3 Area of Effect around its primary target.
The heka's attack range is increased to 7 squares for all attacks, and the charged attack will heal up to five allies along the path of the spell by 5% of the caster's current Magic level, rounded down.
At the cost of three prayer points, the heka's charged attack will drain 5% of the target's Magic level (capped at 20%), and boost the caster's Magic level by 50% of the drained levels from the target, up to a 15% increase of the caster's Magic level.

Maximum hit

The maximum hit dealt by Tumeken's heka is dependent on the player's current Magic level; the formula for the heka's fast and charged attacks are as follows. Note that any magic damage bonuses are applied after the base max hit is calculated.

Trivia

  • A heka, also known as a crook, is a hooked sceptre associated with the god Osiris and was a symbol of rule in Ancient Egypt.
  • During the ToA Weapons Beta and Nex Weapons Beta in which Tumeken's heka could be playtested, the heka's fast attack had an additional max hit of 1. In addition, the fast attacks only used 50% of the player's magic damage bonus from equipped items when calculating damage, whilst the charged attack used 150%. These were removed when the heka was reworked in the Tombs of Amascut: Raid Rewards V2 poll blog.
