A bird's egg can be obtained from a bird nest that falls out of a tree while Woodcutting or as loot from Bird house trapping. They can come in three different colours: green, blue, and red which represent the colours of Guthix, Saradomin, and Zamorak, respectively.

These eggs can be offered to the shrine in the Woodcutting Guild to receive 100 Prayer experience and a Bird nest with seeds as a reward. There is a 1/300 chance of obtaining a piece of the evil chicken outfit when offering eggs, with each piece having a 1/1,200 chance individually. Before this update, the eggs had no use.

Considering the value of the nest from the shrine, the value of all pieces of the evil chicken outfit, and the chance of obtaining one of these pieces, the average value of one egg is 11,704.00.

The chances of getting a bird nest from a tree is 1/256 when chopping any type of tree (except the blisterwood tree and redwood tree, which do not drop bird nests other than clue nests). When a player receives a nest, the chance of the nest containing a bird's egg is 3/100 (each colour egg being 1/100). When wearing a strung rabbit foot the chances are increased slightly to 3/95 by decreasing the chance of getting seeds.
