A crystal helm is a piece of crystal armour requiring level 70 Defence to equip. When equipped, a 2.5% damage bonus and 5% accuracy bonus is applied when using the crystal bow or Bow of Faerdhinen. This bonus stacks additively with the crystal legs and crystal body's bonuses, for a total of 15% damage and 30% accuracy.
Players can create a crystal helm via a singing bowl by combining 50 crystal shards and a crystal armour seed. Doing so requires level 70 Smithing and Crafting to sing the crystal (the levels can be boosted), and grants 2,500 experience in both skills. If the player does not meet the Smithing and Crafting requirements, they can have Conwenna or Reese sing the crystal for them for an extra 60 crystal shards, for a total of 110.
The helm's colours may also be changed to other colours of the Elven Clans by buying crystals from Lliann's Wares in Prifddinas, which cost 500,000 coins each. It can also be reverted to its original colour by using the crystal of Meilyr on any variant of the helm.
A dangerous death in PvP causes the crystal helm to revert to a crystal armour seed, which will be then dropped for the killer. All crystal shards will be lost should this happen. If a player is not skulled, and the crystal helm is one of the three (or four) items which would ordinarily be protected on death, the helmet will be kept, and will not lose any charges- similar to a blowpipe or trident.
When created, the crystal helm starts off at 2,500 charges and degrades like all crystal equipment, with one charge being depleted for each successful hit that is received from combat; once the helm's charges have been fully depleted, it will no longer have its set effect and stat bonuses until more charges are added to it. The damage from poison or venom will not deplete charges. Wearing an elven signet while using crystal equipment will provide a 10% chance to not consume charges.
In order to add charges to the crystal helm, crystal shards must be used on it (this can be done before it is inactive as well), with each shard granting 100 charges, up to a maximum of 20,000. Dismantling a crystal helm will return the crystal armour seed to the player and doing so will lose all crystal shard charges that were previously loaded.
