A grubby key is obtained during Defender of Varrock, where it is used to permanently unlock access to Zemouregal's Base.

Elias White will prevent the player from destroying the key while following them and, instead, offers to hold onto the key for them. Elias won't return the key if given to him and will later use it to open the trapdoor found during the quest for the player.
