A small key is a quest item used only in the Plague City quest. It is found by searching the barrel on the ground floor^[UK]1^st floor^[US] of the plague house where Elena is being held. The house can only be accessed while holding a warrant that is obtained from Bravek.

It is used to open Elena's cell in the basement of the plague house.

After opening the door, the key is no longer needed, and it serves no further use.

Trivia

There exists an identical copy of the barrel which gives a small key located in the Varrock sewers. If the quest state currently requires the player to search the barrel for a small key (normally found in the house where Elena is being held), it can alternatively be acquired from the barrel in the sewers.
