Steel nails are nails made with a steel bar on an anvil with a hammer in the player's inventory, requiring 34 Smithing, yielding 15 steel nails and granting 37.5 Smithing experience per bar.

These nails are the only nails that can be made in free-to-play because they are required in the Dragon Slayer I quest. Steel nails are tradeable and the sawmill operator will sell them to members for 3 coins each.

Members can use steel nails to construct certain types of wooden furniture. With 56 Construction, five steel nails can be used along with two planks to repair broken bridges in the Hallowed Sepulchre, granting 150 Construction experience; without a hallowed hammer in the player's inventory, there is a chance of failing to repair the bridge and breaking nails in the process. With 33 Fletching, they can be used on flighted ogre arrows to create steel brutal arrows, granting 5.1 Fletching experience per arrow. With 62 Crafting, fifteen steel nails can be used with a maple shield and two pieces of green dragon leather to craft a green d'hide shield, granting 124 Crafting experience per shield.
