The Fire Altar is a runic altar upon which fire runes are crafted from rune essence or pure essence, providing 6.5 Runecraft experience per essence imbued. Level 14 Runecraft is required to craft fire runes.

Players may create a fire tiara here by using either a fire talisman or a tiara on the altar whilst having both in their inventory, granting 35 Runecraft experience. An elemental tiara can also be created here by using an elemental talisman and gold tiara, granting 40 Runecraft experience.

Upon entering the Fire Altar, the music track Quest plays.

</mapframe> The entrance to the altar can be found north of Al Kharid, west of the Emir's Arena, the altar can also be accessed through the Abyss.

To enter the mysterious ruins, players either have to use a fire talisman on the ruins, or click "Enter" on the ruins while wearing a fire tiara. Alternatively, an elemental talisman or tiara can be used.

Experience

Crafting fire runes with a ring of dueling is one of the fastest ways to 44 Runecraft. With duel ring teleports, the average round-trip time if walking to the Fire Altar is ~35 seconds if minimising game tick loss (i.e. teleporting right after the animation finishes). This allows for ~20,000 experience an hour. If running to the altar + teleports, one can expect ~27,000 experience an hour, if minimising tick loss. The average round-trip time in this case is ~26 seconds.

Combination runes

It is possible to make steam runes, smoke runes, and lava runes while at this altar, but at a 50% success rate. This will result in less runes than normal being made. To make a combination rune, the player needs one set of elemental runes, a stack of pure essence, and 2 talismans.

Note that players need to use the opposing rune on the altar to craft combination runes. Simply clicking on the altar would just result in regular elemental runes.

Magic Imbue negates the need of a talisman.

If the player equips a binding necklace, the success rate will increase to 100%. The necklace has a total of 16 uses before breaking. A charge is used each time a batch of combination runes is crafted, instead of each time the altar is entered or for each rune crafted.
